YOGA CROSS TRAINING -  oCTOBER 2ND @ hOT YOGA SOCIETY

Those ‘cool’ looking inversions and arm balances that you spot people popping out in the studio and social media they don’t just magically happen one day.

Each arm balance, inversion, and transition takes lots of small simple drills done again and again, along with working to condition the whole body and build lean muscle strength.

Through this workshop we’ll be learning which muscles need to engage to get in to certain asanas, working on drills to help make them stronger and then giving some of the big postures a go.

All of this will be done in the context of a vinyasa based sequence where Adam will be bringing his experience as the former fitness coach of a boxing squad to the yoga studio, through a strong practice where you’ll undoubtedly need a protein source soon after.

ninja hips - September 17TH 2016 @ INDABA, LONDON

Yogis hate this and it may hurt …..we’re going to reign it in and move our legs with control!
As modern yogis we often love to throw our legs around, take them as high as possible and generally follow the route of least resistance in our practice. This is great for making pretty shapes, but not necessarily the best thing for your body. In this workshop, our attention will be drawn to the concept of mobility: a combination of flexibility and strength, in a context where strength means control.

Through a controlled vinyasa practice, we’ll be exploring the anatomical subtleties of more traditional asana and brining in dynamic movements to find depth and strength around our legs and hips. You might be great a using your arms or a teacher to get you legs into ‘deep poses’, but how are you at moving your legs in to deep positions, solely with the muscles designed to move your legs? In this workshop you’ll find an answer to that, and then, post class, you’ll be glad Indaba has a lift.

To close our practice, we’ll be spending some time working deep in some static poses and then move through a gentle restorative practice, to prepare you for entry back in to the outside world.

Adam is an alignment focused vinyasa teacher, teaching workshops and online yoga in Europe and beyond.

cROWN YOUR PIGEON - mARCH 13TH 2016 @ BREEZE YOGA, Kent

Adam will focus on how to safely move into deeper backbends, with a focus not on developing contortion skills worthy of a circus, but instead on how to safely elongate through the whole spine and open the shoulders as you do so.

“Through this exploration we’ll be breaking down our vinyasa technique, finding length through the upper body and working out how to undulate through individual vertebrae.

After taking on the office/iPhone hunch that we’re all developing, we’ll continue to move more dynamically to open the hips, create fluidity in the spine and work towards the magic of King Pigeon. To finish expect a long, well deserved end of class to neutralise the spine and quiet the mind”.
